The Utah’s Own program received a plaque in recognition and appreciation for its service to the Utah Restaurant Association and its members during the annual Utah Restaurant Association Awards Banquet Wednesday evening, October 3, 2007. “We are pleasantly surprised and appreciative of their generous recognition of our program,” said Seth Winterton, Deputy Director of the Marketing and Development Division of the Utah Department of Agriculture and Food, “they have been very helpful to us to get our message of buying locally produced food products out to the restaurant industry,” he added. Seth accepted the award on behalf of the staff and the many members of the Utah’s Own program. The Utah’s Own program has the goal of encouraging the purchase of locally produced products by the Utah consumer. “We want to create a consumer culture of choosing Utah products not only at grocery stores but when ordering at restaurants and anyplace Utah consumers shop”, said Jed Christensen, Director of the Marketing and Development Division of the Utah Department of Agriculture and Food.
